A Commitment to Accessibility

Privilege are committed to making sure that everyone has access to their website and its content. Our aim is to ensure that everyone is able to read the details contained and complete applications online, and that no one is disenfranchised because of their disability.

Our site has been redesigned to improve accessibility by following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set by the W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative.

Our goal is for all our sites to be compliant with the WCAG ‘Double-A’ accessibility standards; and we are continually making changes to the site in order to achieve ‘Double A’ compliance.

Browser compatibility:

We have tested the website with the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 5
  • Internet Explorer 5.5
  • Internet Explorer 6
  • Netscape 7.x
  • JAWS 6.0

Our sites fully utilise CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to separate content from presentation, reducing file size and increasing download speeds. Most images have been regulated to the CSS document and where possible text alternatives for graphical content have been provided.
The site is also accessible to users whose browsers do not support JavaScript.

Navigational aids:

Every page of the site includes a 'Skip to main content' and 'Skip to help' link at the start of each page, which may be useful for those using assistive technologies.
All pages of the site are navigable with the keyboard, mouse, and a large number of other assistive devices.

Areas in development:

Security images - For security reasons, images that require visual verification of characters are used as part of the Car Insurance Quote confirmation process. These types of images may not be accessible to users with certain types of impairments. We are actively searching for a more accessible replacement for these images. If you are experiencing problems with this image, please call us.

Adverse effects when changing text and background colours - Where colours are used, we have tried to ensure maximum contrast between foreground and background items, according to the W3C’s suggested guidelines.

We are aware some users need to use their own text and background colour settings. Users are able to change the colour options with ease, however, when they are changed it can cause adverse effects in the browser and certain content fails to be displayed (this content currently includes company logos, and the FAQ sections).

If you are experiencing problems with colour contrast, please call us. We are here to help

If you experience any difficulties with our pages, please contact us and we will try to provide you with the information you need.
