Female car insurance
According to research by Privilege, women can afford to spend an extra £1,122* on motoring items during the course of their lifetimes thanks to the money they save on car insurance as a result of driving safely. So, ladies – car insurance can be worth shopping around for.
Although there is little difference in volume between female car insurance claims and those made by male motorists, the average claim made by men is 20 per cent higher. This means that women can be considered better risks, making female car insurance cover less costly.
Whether this is due to differing attitudes to driving between the sexes is unclear, but claims experience does indicate that female car insurance policies will see fewer and less costly claims.
Women can also save by insuring their partner on their policy. Privilege offers an ‘Insured and Partner’ option to customers enabling them to add their ‘other half’ to their policy – potentially saving money in the process. Female car insurance premiums can sometimes be less when they add their partner – and Privilege recognises both heterosexual and same-sex couples, not just those who are married.
Perhaps the responsibility of being in a long-term relationship translates into safer driving when behind the wheel. Whatever the reason, ‘Insured and Partner’ can often be a cost-effective option for female car insurance when compared to ‘Insured Only Driving’ policies.
