Privilege Giveback

Many of our car insurance customers have driven less in recent months. We think it’s only fair to offer those customers some money back so we’ve launched Privilege Giveback.

If you drove less between 1 October 2020 and 31 March 2021, you could be entitled to some money back. You need an active policy, either a renewal or a new policy bought before July 2020.

Who's eligible for Privilege Giveback?

You need an active Privilege Car Insurance policy (a renewal or a new policy bought before July 2020) and to have driven less between 1 October 2020 and 31 March 2021.

How do you get the money?

We’ll email eligible customers with more information and a special link. All you’ll need to do is click the link and follow the instructions.

If you don't have an email address, look out for a letter containing the relevant information.

Contacting everyone will take a while, so please hold off getting in touch if you're yet to hear from us. We aim to have contacted everyone by 1 July 2021.

What can you do with the money?

You can do whatever you like with the money, but we're also offering some options:

  • Keep the money for yourself, either as a cash payment or Amazon gift card.
  • Donate the money to one of out chosen charities: Mind, Sepsis Trust or NSPCC.
  • Split the money between yourself and one of the charities.

Can I claim a refund for the first lockdown in 2020?

Yes, if you haven’t already done so. If you think your annual mileage decreased by at least 1,000 miles because you drove less between 23 March 2020 and 31 July 2020, and your policy began before August 2020, you can request a refund related to your lower mileage.

Important information

Even if you're not driving your car at the moment, it's a legal requirement for your vehicle to be insured, unless it has been registered with a SORN and is declared 'off the road' with the DVLA. You can find more information here: https://www.gov.uk/sorn-statutory-off-road-notification.

If you declare your car off the road and temporarily no longer require cover, we can suspend your policy. Please get in touch if you'd like to do this.
